Northstar

Sorry I'm so horrible at keeping up on this, but it's probably because I've been listening to too much NORTHSTAR instead of going on the internet! This band is amazing. I don't really have words to describe it.

Okay, well seeing as I just wrote a solid five page report on how awesome Northstar is, I guess I do have words to describe it, but the main point is any fans of current music in America- any fans of bands like Brand New and Taking Back Sunday that are tired of the same shitty lyrics and boring, fine tuned vocals, listen to this band; they're basically the blueprint for every post-emo rock band this side of the equator.

This is my personal favorite song by them. If you can't seem to find their music, use the internet- more specifically, google. I really can't [legally] help you more than that, but if you're poor ask some cool kids wearing thick rimmed glasses with old weezer shirts on. They'll probably have a Northstar album or two (on vinyl).

Tired.

It's late, I'm tired and I haven't slept all weekend. Every time I look at a light it starts growing and then shrinking back, like a pulse, which tells me that I'm either A- having difficulty perceiving light due to my lack of sleep or B literally hallucinating. Either way, this post was long overdue, and yet I still feel as if it's far too barren... if it helps, I'll post a couple miscellaneous songs that have been running through my mind lately. Stay classy.

This one's for chillen

This one's for... villlain...s..? Oh god that was terrible.

Top 5 bands you probably haven't heard of

These are in no particular order.

5) Algernon Cadwallader
Fun nonsense lyrics with great 90's Emo style vocals and two fantastic guitarists.

4) Into it. Over it.
The main guy from this band, Evan Thomas Weiss, set a crazy goal for himself to write a song for a week for a year, and actually managed to do it- not only is this awesome, but the songs are more than decent and he's a nice guy to boot. More of that midwest-90's feel, with a kind of Death Cab twist.

3) The Sidekicks
If you've actually been checking out these bands you'll quickly realize that these first three are all based in the Philadelphia music scene. It is a coincidence, as I didn't initially plan this, but the music in that area is really exploding and every show I've been to in the past year in Philly has been absolutely amazing. This band is a kind of folky/poppy/alternative/whatever genre that employs a heavy amount of vocal harmonies. A great singalong band. I first saw them in my all time favorite venue: The Ava house.

2)Ugly Colors
This band is just sick- in a cool way, not disgusting, or ill or anything. Guitarist plays the coolest little melodies that just send shivers up my spine, and when you hear the vocals think Starting Line with more hair on their balls.

1) Cassino
Alright, the rest of these really were in no order, but Cassino is easily one of- if not- the best acoustic music projects the States have to offer. It started as a project to follow Northstar, lead singer Nick Torres's former project, but they have written some of the most deep and powerful songs I have every heard. Torres's lyrics are captivating, emotional, multi-dimensional and profoundly metaphorical. I really love this band.

Gingersnap ice cream sandwiches

Today, March 28th, 2011, at around 10 PM, I discovered what is to become my favorite late-night snack of all time: ice cream surrounded by two gingersnap cookies.
To put it blatantly, it's really freaking good. Although I could write for hours on how delightfully delicious the taste is lingering in my mouth, or the memory of the texture- the cold melting away on the tongue, crumbling the crunchy cookie into small bits, bursting with flavor- it is late, and I must go to sleep. In summation, I will never be the same. Goodnight America. And WORLD

PS: listen to this band, they're sweet.

Frothland: music, art, whatever

Hello, my name is Clint, I'm 18 years old, and this is my blog.
For the most part I'm just going to give a daily band to listen to, or piece of writing I thought was cool, or really anything...  I hope you like what I have to say...?
Until I get comfortable with this blog I feel as if everything I write is going to look extremely awkward- even this sentence... It's hard to get back into blogging, I haven't since the olden days of tumblr. Which was really only about a year ago.
All that aside, I like music a lot, and I like to write, although the degree of terri-bility in this blog would go to show otherwise. I also know a holy fuck ton about everything.
So thank's for stopping by San Diego.
PS-this is a picture of a band I've ben listening to a lot lately, Moving Mountains. They're sick. Check'emout!
